SAIL LAST purposefully creates sustainable, environmentally responsible sailing opportunities for juniors that focuses 50% of our invested effort into teaching STEM skills.
SAIL LAST developed a program utilizing match racing fleets of rotomolded 100% recyclable skiff sailboats.
The SAIL LAST target is elementary through high school age children interested in learning the sport of sailing and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
SAIL LAST knows that sustainability and environmentally responsible sailing programs are rare in the United States and that STEM skills are missing for over 65% of the youth in America.
According to the National Science Foundation’s National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as the Nation’s Report Card, just over one-third (35%) of 8th grade students performed at or above the proficient level on the National math assessment in 2013.
SAIL LAST safety boats are also 100% recyclable rotomolded polypropylene. Our Whaly safety boats are powered by sustainable electric outboard motors made in the USA. Our battery banks are charged using solar panels.
This SAIL LAST platform is long lasting, resilient, sustainable and recyclable.
SAIL LAST leverages the safety boat platform teaching sailors important STEM skills that are transferrable beyond the sailing course and into real world work and education opportunities.
SAIL LAST measures success by hands-on teaching and verification examinations of our sailors. SAIL LAST records achievements based upon the number of sailors that master sailing and STEM each year.
All grant investments are entirely utilized in the education of junior sailors in the sport of sailing and the experience of STEM skills. 90% of all donations go directly to the kids.
The SAIL LAST budget includes expanding our existing sailing and safety fleet to benefit many more students.
At SAIL LAST we train, test, trust and verify skills and aptitudes, every day.
